Job Title: F-16 Aircraft Mechanic (Production FACO APG Technician)
Job Description
This role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and modifying F-16 aircraft systems and powerplants in accordance with established written procedures, specifications, and standards. You will support production, final assembly, and flight operations/flight readiness activities while ensuring aircraft safety, reliability, and compliance with all maintenance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect F-16 aircraft systems and powerplants to identify wear, damage, defects, and required maintenance in accordance with established procedures and technical data.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and systems issues on the aircraft, determine root causes, and perform corrective actions to restore full functionality.
- Repair, overhaul, and modify aircraft systems and components, including landing gear, powerplants, flight controls, and related subsystems.
- Perform fueling and defueling operations safely and accurately, following all applicable procedures and safety standards.
- Support aircraft movement, launch, and recovery activities, including towing, parking, and preparing aircraft for flight operations.
- Conduct flight line and phase maintenance tasks to ensure aircraft readiness and compliance with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
- Work within a production and final assembly environment to support aircraft build-up, integration, and final checks prior to flight readiness.
- Use technical manuals, maintenance documents, and written specifications to perform all work to required standards and document actions accurately.
- Collaborate with other technicians, inspectors, and engineering personnel to resolve complex maintenance issues and support continuous improvement.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- Support heavy maintenance activities as needed to ensure aircraft meet operational and delivery schedules.
- Participate in training and cross-training to maintain current knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with 6+ years of recent aircraft experience preferred.
- Recent fighter aircraft experience (highly preferred and may allow consideration with 4 years of experience).
- Hands-on experience with F-16 aircraft maintenance (highly preferred).
- Proficiency in aircraft mechanic and aircraft maintenance practices, including repair and troubleshooting.
- Experience with flight line maintenance and line maintenance operations (highly preferred).
- Phase maintenance experience on aircraft, preferably fighter platforms.
- Experience in final assembly or flight operations/flight readiness environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for aircraft systems and powerplants.
- Ability to perform heavy maintenance tasks on complex aircraft systems.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems operation and maintenance, including landing gear, powerplants, flight controls, fueling/defueling, and aircraft movement/launch and recovery.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow written procedures, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Capability to work assigned shifts and support overtime as needed.
- A&P license or A&P certification experience (strongly preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience working on military defense aircraft such as F-16, F-22, C-130, P-3, UH-60, or similar platforms.
- Experience within a large aerospace, defense, or aircraft manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with production FACO (Final Assembly and Checkout) or APG (Airframe, Powerplant, and General) roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production and maintenance setting.
- Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and adherence to safety practices.
- Interest in a long-term contracting opportunity with potential to transition to a direct role if available in the future.

Work Environment
You will work in a climate-controlled facility within a large, established defense and aircraft manufacturing operation that supports multiple military aircraft platforms. The role is shift-based, and you must be able to work either 1st or 2nd shift, with final shift assignment determined after training based on team needs. Typical schedules are Monday through Thursday, 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM for 1st shift, and Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM for 2nd shift. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and process-driven, with access to specialized tools, equipment, and technical documentation to support aircraft maintenance, final assembly, and flight readiness activities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
