Job Description
This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG welding and fabrication work in a clean, climate-controlled environment. You will interpret work instructions and blueprints, set appropriate weld parameters, and execute a variety of welds using modern welding equipment and tools to support production and fabrication needs.
Responsibilities
- Read and follow detailed work instructions to complete welding and fabrication tasks accurately and safely.
- Interpret and work from blueprints to understand weld symbols, joint configurations, and fabrication requirements.
- Set and adjust MIG weld parameters, including spray arc and short circuit modes, to achieve proper weld quality and penetration.
- Perform fillet and groove welds using GMAW (MIG) processes in accordance with specified standards and procedures.
- Utilize measuring tools, including tape measures and weld gauges, to verify dimensions, fit-up, and weld quality.
- Operate and monitor robotic welding equipment as needed to support production and ensure consistent weld quality.
- Perform fabrication tasks such as cutting, fitting, and preparing materials for welding using plasma cutters, acetylene torches, and carbon arc gouges.
- Inspect completed welds for defects and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in clean and safe condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while handling welding equipment, cutting tools, and related materials.
- At least 2 years of experience with GMAW (MIG) welding.
- Hands-on experience with spray transfer GMAW processes.
- Proficiency in performing fillet and groove welds using MIG welding.
- Ability to set and adjust MIG weld parameters for spray arc and short circuit modes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to welding and fabrication.
- Proficient use of measuring tools, including tape measures and weld gauges.
- Experience operating plasma cutters for material preparation.
- Experience using acetylene torches for cutting and heating applications.
- Experience with carbon arc gouges for gouging and preparation work.
- Strong understanding of welding safety practices and safe operation of welding and cutting equipment.
- Experience working as both a welder and fabricator in a production or fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with robotic welding systems and their operation.
- Ability to maintain consistent weld quality in a climate-controlled shop environment.
- Strong attention to detail when measuring, fitting, and inspecting welded components.
- Capability to work from written instructions and technical documentation with minimal supervision.

Work Environment
This position is based in a clean, climate-controlled facility designed to provide a comfortable and safe work setting. You will work with MIG welding equipment, including spray arc and short circuit modes, as well as robotic welding systems, plasma cutters, acetylene torches, carbon arc gouges, and standard measuring tools such as tape measures and weld gauges. The environment supports structured production and fabrication activities, with an emphasis on organization, safety, and maintaining equipment and work areas in good condition.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
