Construction Technician / Carpenter – Data Center Project
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7a-5p
Pay: $25/hr for top candidates
Job Description
Join a large-scale data center construction project in Ridgeville, SC as a Construction General Labor / Construction Technician. In this role, you support site operations through a wide variety of hands-on tasks, including basic carpentry, material handling, site cleanup, and general mechanical assistance. You work closely with site leads and trade teams on a high-profile project, where a positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to take direction are essential.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day construction activities on a large data center project by performing a wide range of general labor tasks.
- Carry out basic carpentry duties such as assisting with framing and simple construction tasks as directed by site leads.
- Set up and remove temporary barriers, safety fencing, and other protective structures around active work areas.
- Assist with erecting and taking down tents and other temporary structures as needed on the jobsite.
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently across the construction site using appropriate methods.
- Perform regular site cleaning, including sweeping, debris removal, and general housekeeping to maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Support basic mechanical and construction tasks under the guidance of supervisors and experienced tradespeople.
- Use hand and power tools safely and correctly to complete assigned tasks in line with site standards and instructions.
- Read and use a tape measure accurately to support cutting, measuring, and layout tasks.
- Assist site leads and forepersons with various tasks, following instructions and asking clarifying questions when needed.
- Perform manual labor such as digging, lifting, and moving materials in outdoor and active construction conditions.
- Operate pressure washing equipment as needed to clean surfaces, equipment, or work areas.
- Follow all site safety rules, procedures, and directions from supervisors and the general contractor.
- Demonstrate professionalism and represent the project team positively on a high-profile site at all times.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general labor or construction-related work, preferably on commercial or large-scale projects.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in a construction environment.
- Basic carpentry skills, including assisting with framing and simple construction tasks.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for measuring and layout tasks.
- Capability to perform physical labor such as cleaning, digging, sweeping, lifting, and material transport throughout the workday.
- Willingness and ability to take direction from leads and supervisors and follow instructions consistently.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Comfort working on a large, active construction site alongside a general contractor and multiple subcontractors.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Construction experience in general labor on commercial or industrial projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic framing and carpentry techniques.
- Experience using common construction hand tools such as hammers, tape measures, and levels.
- Experience using basic power tools in a safe and controlled manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work on a high-profile project where conduct and presentation are closely observed.

Work Environment

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday with 10-hour days, and some Saturdays may be required based on project needs. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring consistent adherence to site rules and procedures. This is a high-profile project, so professionalism, respectful behavior, and a clean, presentable appearance are essential at all times while on site.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
