Job Description
The Packaging Operator runs bottling, labeling, and packaging equipment used to manufacture nutritional supplements and wellness products. This role sets up and adjusts machinery, verifies packaging specifications, monitors product quality, and completes production and quality documentation. The position offers structured training, cross-training across multiple departments, and the opportunity to advance into credentialed and certified operator roles.
Responsibilities
- Operate bottling, labeling, and packaging equipment to produce nutritional supplements and wellness products safely and efficiently.
- Perform machine setups, changeovers, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting to maximize production output and minimize downtime.
- Verify all packaging specifications before production runs, including product labels, bottle counts, fill weights, lids, packaging materials, and components.
- Monitor product quality throughout the packaging process and immediately address or report any deviations from standards.
- Complete production records, batch records, and quality documents accurately, neatly, and in a timely manner.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, safety procedures, and packaging protocols at all times.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues within approved guidelines and make machine adjustments to maintain production efficiency.
- Maintain a strong quality-focused mindset while producing health and wellness products.
- Participate in a structured, credentialed training program to develop technical skills and progress through defined certification levels.
- Cross-train in multiple production departments and support different production areas as needed.
- Assist with general production tasks such as packing, picking, labeling, and inspection to support overall workflow.
- Eventually train, coach, and mentor new operators once fully credentialed and certified.
- Support mandatory overtime requirements, including regular Saturday work, to meet production demands.
- Adhere to all safety, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in production areas.
- Ability to set up, operate, and adjust bottling and labeling equipment with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to verify product specifications, bottle counts, fill weights, labels, lids, and packaging components before production runs.
- Capability to complete batch records, production paperwork, and quality documents accurately and legibly.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset when working with health and wellness products.
- Ability to follow written procedures, SOPs, and production instructions consistently.
- Comfort working around allergen-based ingredients such as nuts, soy, dairy, fish, and shellfish.
- Ability to learn multiple processes and equipment systems within a production environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Willingness and ability to work mandatory overtime, including Saturdays.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous manufacturing, production, packaging, or machine operating experience preferred.
- Experience with general production tasks such as packing, labeling, inspection, and picking is beneficial.
- Familiarity with following SOPs, quality standards, and safety procedures in a regulated environment.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional production setting with shifting priorities.
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during repetitive tasks and extended production runs.
- Interest in developing technical skills through structured, credential-based training and career progression programs.

Work Environment
This role operates in a production facility with three primary shifts: 1st Shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd Shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with a shift differential, and 3rd Shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with a shift differential. All shifts include working on Saturday with one weekday off. Overtime and Saturday work are standard to support production demands. The environment includes moderate noise levels from production equipment and frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing ladders, and repetitive lifting and material handling throughout the shift. Work may take place in enclosed rooms for extended periods. Operators must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators in certain production areas, and follow all safety and facility guidelines while working around allergen-based ingredients.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $44200.00/yr.
