Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs a wide range of production equipment, with a strong focus on electrical systems and CNC machinery. This role performs both preventive and reactive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, manuals, and engineering specifications. The technician troubleshoots complex malfunctions, documents maintenance activities, and helps minimize downtime by supporting production teams with effective maintenance practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance on CNC machines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions by observing machines in operation, listening for irregularities, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Remove and replace defective parts by safely dismantling equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, and inspecting the condition of parts.
- Identify sources of mechanical and electrical problems and implement effective corrective actions to restore equipment to proper operation.
- Control and reduce downtime by communicating routine preventive maintenance techniques to production workers and monitoring their adherence.
- Maintain accurate inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying deliveries.
- Use maintenance resources efficiently by selecting appropriate tools, equipment, and supplies to accomplish maintenance tasks.
- Prepare clear and accurate electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing maintenance data, issues, and trends.
- Maintain and update technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and building professional networks.
- Support installation, repair, and troubleshooting of large automated systems, including equipment start-up and integration.
- Read and interpret electrical prints and schematics to diagnose issues and guide repairs.
- Work safely around high-voltage equipment and in a foundry manufacturing environment, following all safety procedures and best practices.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Demonstrated electrical abilities, including electrical installations, conduit work, and PLC wiring or similar experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and large automated systems.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining equipment and robotics troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
- Specific knowledge and experience with PLCs and Ladder Logic (including RSLogix 500 / 5000 or similar platforms).
- Experience working with 120-volt and 480-volt electrical systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience in equipment installation, repair, and maintenance in an industrial environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Ability to safely use hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to dismantle and repair equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with induction furnaces, vibratory conveyors, and shot blast equipment is preferred.
- Experience with foundry equipment is a plus.
- Exposure to paint and machine shop equipment is beneficial.
- Mechanical maintenance alongside electrical maintenance is advantageous.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and documentation practices.
- Willingness to continuously learn through workshops, technical publications, and professional networking.

Work Environment

Technicians regularly work around induction furnaces, conveyors, CNC machines, robotics, and other large automated systems, following strict safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with scheduled overtime requirements and opportunities for additional hours, and it requires comfort working on the production floor in an industrial setting.
