Job Title: Welder / Fabricator
Responsibilities
- Perform wire feed (MIG) welding on a variety of metal components in accordance with established specifications and quality standards.
- Fabricate and assemble parts using weld fixtures and layout techniques to ensure accurate dimensions and fit.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work order routings, and written instructions to determine material requirements, welding sequence, and fabrication steps.
- Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to verify dimensions before and after welding and fabrication.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any issues or needed repairs.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines in the fabrication and weld shop to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules.
- Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot fabrication or welding issues and improve processes where possible.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated skill level in wire feed (MIG) welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure with precision.
- Ability to read and understand work order routings and instructions.
- Ability to layout parts using weld fixtures.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience working in a fabrication and weld shop environment is beneficial.
- Comfort working with production standards and quality requirements.
- Ability to work different shifts and overtime as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ooltewah, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.25/hr.
