Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description
This full-time Project Manager role sits within the Operations Team and oversees turnkey field projects as the prime contractor, as well as tools and technical services and in-house work when not assigned to field projects. The Project Manager works closely with Engineering, Operations, Business Office, Business Development, Safety, and Quality teams to plan, execute, and close projects safely, on time, and within budget. This position supports the Vice President of Operations by managing a wide range of construction and rigging-related projects and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary representative for assigned projects, acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with the Vice President of Operations to determine and assign all personnel required to perform project activities.
- Plan, organize, and manage all project activities, including scope, schedule, cost, and resources, to ensure successful project execution.
- Develop, manage, and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, and track progress against established milestones.
- Oversee project mobilization and job-site setup, ensuring all necessary preparations, equipment, and resources are in place.
- Coordinate all job-site equipment needs and subcontractor requirements to support safe and efficient project execution.
- Ensure all project procedures, specifications, and technical requirements are followed and met throughout the project.
- Staff projects with temporary labor as needed, ensuring appropriate coverage and capability for all project tasks.
- Ensure all job-site personnel are properly trained for their roles and understand applicable procedures and safety requirements.
- Coordinate project safety needs with internal safety resources to ensure compliance with safety standards and practices.
- Oversee job-site contract compliance, ensuring all terms, conditions, and obligations are met.
- Ensure all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws are followed and met at the job site.
- Ensure all job-site rules, regulations, and company policies are followed and enforced.
- Maintain a detailed daily project log documenting work performed, issues encountered, and key decisions.
- Submit required administrative data and project documentation to the home office in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain daily communication with the client to provide updates, address concerns, and manage expectations.
- Lead project close-out activities, including punch lists, demobilization, and final documentation.
- Document and publish final job reports and assist with final billing and project financial close-out.
- Manage other field jobs from the home office and oversee in-shop projects as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
- Take on a management role in the shop as needed, assisting the Vice President of Operations with non-turnkey projects, tool refurbishment, shipments, and other operational activities.
- Assist the Proposal Manager with inquiries and requests for proposals, including walk-downs, pre-bid meetings, project planning, scheduling, budgeting, division of responsibility, vendor quotes, and review of RFPs.
- Assist in the development and review of project procedures, work instructions, and job safety analyses to support continuous improvement and safe operations.
Essential Skills
- Ability to fully manage a project from planning through close-out, including oversight of all personnel on the project.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and processes.
- Understanding of and experience with or around large-scale rigging operations.
- Proficiency with computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen carefully and follow instructions well.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with the Tennessee Drug Free Workplace program.
- Ability to successfully complete a favorable investigation suitable for access to power plants.
- Eligibility to work legally in the United States.
- Associate or technical degree in a related field, or a minimum of five years of experience in project management.
- Mastery of computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective organization and labor management capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Project for project planning and scheduling.
- Experience with rigging, condensers, heat exchangers, welding, and cranes.
- Experience working in power plants or other large industrial facilities.
- Experience within steam-powered facilities.
- Fabrication or construction management.
- Construction management experience with exposure to project management in construction, rigging, and crane operations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Business Office, Business Development, Safety, and Quality.
- Experience participating in or supporting proposal development, including walk-downs, pre-bid meetings, budgeting, and vendor coordination.
Work Environment
This role is primarily on-site at manufacturing and project locations, including client facilities and field project sites. The Project Manager works in industrial and construction environments where large-scale rigging, cranes, condensers, heat exchangers, welding, and related equipment may be present. Work may include both field-based assignments and home office or shop-based responsibilities, such as managing in-shop projects, tool refurbishment, and shipments. Travel to client sites and power plants is required, and access to these facilities is contingent on screening requirements. The position may involve extended hours, particularly on travel jobs, with opportunities for overtime compensation for work beyond standard hours. The work environment emphasizes safety, adherence to regulations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a hands-on, operations-focused setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ooltewah, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.07/hr.
