Job Title: Electrical Engineering Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting in-house engineering projects as an electrical engineering technician, working closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams to assemble, commission, and improve complex automation equipment. You contribute directly to project documentation, root cause failure analysis, and process improvement initiatives within a modern manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams to support in-house engineering projects.
- Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures to identify issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Assemble conveyors, robots, and other complex automation components and automation equipment.
- Commission automation equipment, ensuring proper installation, setup, and operation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Document work, findings, and results for the engineering team, supporting completion of multiple in-house projects.
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings during assembly and troubleshooting.
- Use test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, to diagnose electrical and mechanical component performance issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across engineering and manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in commissioning and assembly of automation equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical components and systems used in automation equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components and systems used in automation equipment.
- Hands-on experience with assembly of conveyors, robots, and other complex automation components.
- Experience performing root cause failure analysis on field failures.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical documentation.
- Proficiency using test and measurement tools, including oscilloscopes, for troubleshooting and verification.
- Ability to document work clearly and accurately for engineering teams and project records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering preferred.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, and controls engineering support.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or automation-focused environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing equipment and process issues.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Attention to detail when assembling, testing, and documenting automation equipment.
- Interest in professional growth within a large, expanding organization with broad visibility.
Work Environment
The role is based in a brand-new manufacturing plant, offering a modern and clean facility with up-to-date automation equipment and engineering tools. The standard shift runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. You work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams on in-house projects, with exposure to conveyors, robots, and complex automation systems. The environment supports professional growth and offers significant visibility across different areas of the organization.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Smyrna, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
