Job Description
This role supports testing activities in a commercial office space environment by setting up test areas, performing general labor and light construction tasks, and assisting maintenance and mechanical teams as needed. The technician uses hand and power tools to build and prepare test walls and work areas, performs basic data entry and documentation, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite. The position requires comfort with physical labor, working outdoors when needed, and occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
- Set up test areas in commercial office space rooms, including moving materials, positioning components, and preparing workstations.
- Use hand tools such as hammers and wrenches to build and assemble walls and structures for tests.
- Screw in fasteners, hold walls and materials in place, and assist with basic construction and assembly tasks.
- Perform general labor duties as assigned, including lifting, carrying, and holding materials in place during setup and installation.
- Measure and align materials accurately using tape measures and levels to ensure proper fit and positioning.
- Clean and maintain the worksite, including sweeping, removing debris, and keeping work areas organized and safe.
- Perform basic data entry and documentation, ensuring legible writing and accurate recording of information related to work performed.
- Clean grounds and surrounding areas to support overall facility upkeep.
- Organize parts, tools, and supplies to ensure efficient access and a tidy work environment.
- Take out trash and dispose of waste materials according to site procedures.
- Clean machines and equipment as needed to support maintenance and operational reliability.
- Assist mechanics and maintenance technicians with tasks such as holding parts, handing tools, and performing simple support activities.
- Work overtime when requested to meet project schedules or operational needs.
- Work outdoors when required, supporting construction, maintenance, or test-related tasks across multiple buildings on site.
Essential Skills
- Basic assembly or construction experience, including familiarity with hand tools.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, tape measures, and levels.
- Capability to perform physical labor, including standing for extended periods, lifting, carrying, and holding materials in place.
- Basic computer skills to perform simple data entry tasks.
- Ability to write legibly for documentation and recordkeeping.
- Comfort working outdoors when required.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
- General troubleshooting mindset and willingness to support preventive maintenance and technician tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Carpentry experience, such as framing or basic wood construction.
- Welding experience or exposure to metalworking tasks.
- Experience with power tools used in construction or general labor environments.
- Experience in construction, general labor, engineering support, or maintenance technician roles.
- Experience assisting mechanics or maintenance personnel in an industrial or facilities setting.
- Ability to stay organized when managing parts, supplies, and tools across multiple work areas.

Work Environment
The role is based in a non–climate-controlled setting, working across several different buildings on site, including both indoor and outdoor areas. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime available as needed, and most weeks offering around 40 hours. You will work closely with a lead person and other team members and may occasionally work independently on smaller tasks. The environment is active and hands-on, involving construction, testing, and maintenance support. The dress code includes steel-toe boots, work pants or jeans, and a shirt with sleeves, and clothing will likely get dirty due to the nature of the work.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of ELMENDORF, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
