Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in heating and air conditioning systems, installing equipment and programs, and performing preventive and routine maintenance on HVAC systems. The role involves evaluating system conditions and recommending repairs and preventive measures to ensure efficient and effective functioning.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in heating and air conditioning systems to identify repair or replacement needs.
- Install equipment, fan motors, and wiring according to specifications.
- Monitor HVAC gauges and indicators to ensure proper unit functionality.
- Utilize voltage or current meters, including AC line splitters and HVAC/R clamp meters, for system analysis.
- Service HVAC systems to improve efficiency, including refrigerant removal and leak testing.
- Inspect HVAC components for necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure ongoing system functionality.
- Repair equipment and maintain inventory to ensure availability of necessary items.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient work unit functioning.
Essential Skills
- Troubleshooting skills in electrical systems and facilities maintenance.
- Experience with HVAC systems, mechanical components, chillers, motors, and wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
- EPA universal certification is required.
- HVAC/R certification required.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Monday–Thursday and Sunday (2:00–10:00 PM)
- Train on 1st shift for 2 months
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with GMP and AIB standards.
- Strong communication and math skills.
- Dependability, analytical thinking, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Work Environment
The work environment is a large, active food-production facility with warm and humid areas, constant airflow, and equipment running throughout the day. Technicians will navigate tight mechanical rooms, elevated platforms, and rooftop units, often working around loud machinery and temperature-controlled zones.
