Job Title: Hardware Test Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a hardware test engineer to create a test framework for hardware integration testing on a new implantable medical device product. This role involves significant work in the electronics lab, utilizing standard hardware testing tools, and requires extensive experience in automating tests using C#. Candidates must be highly proficient with hardware testing equipment, debugging hardware, and programming in C#.

Responsibilities

  • Determine feasibility of a design concept through part selection, prototyping, and initial design fabrication of the PCBA, board bring-up (debug as necessary), and characterization to determine the suitability of the concept.
  • Develop automated test systems for continuous tests, characterization, design verification, and production of various neuromodulation products. Automation scripts shall be developed in C#.
  • Execute tests and analyze data using statistical methods to influence product design choices based on findings.
  • Write technical specifications and requirements, and communicate issues and information accurately through strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Automate characterization, design verification, and production-level tests in C# and other automation software tools.
  • Perform technical reviews and code reviews periodically to keep stakeholders informed and seek critical feedback for design improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute software development projects, including defining project scope, requirements, timelines, and budgets.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify project goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Design the next-generation architecture of automation systems with a focus on maximizing efficiency through reusable toolsets/assets.
  • Automate the validation of software through techniques including scheduled builds, static tests, unit/module/integration test libraries, and UI test automation and simulators that mimic hardware and product behavior.

Essential Skills

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical test development, system bring-up, integration, and debug.
  • 2+ years of experience in C, C++, or C# for electrical tests automation.
  • Proficiency in hardware testing equipment and debugging hardware.
  • Experience with low-power circuit design.
  • Experience with embedded devices.
  • Experience with Altium board layout and schematic capture.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging and related equipment (oscilloscope, multimeters, logic analyzers).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical product development is preferred.
