Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
This role involves operating compression mold machines to produce rubber and plastic rings and seals used in the oil and gas industry. You will measure and prepare powders and materials, set up machines, and operate hydraulic presses to mold rubber preforms into finished seals while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate compression mold machines to produce rubber and plastic rings and seals according to production specifications.
- Measure and prepare powders and materials prior to machine setup to ensure proper consistency.
- Set up hydraulic presses and molds accurately and safely before production runs.
- Inspect first run parts for defects and make necessary adjustments prior to full production.
- Turn preforms, stack preforms, and straighten preforms and parts while parts are in the press to ensure proper molding.
- Load press platens uniformly with molds of equal height to maintain consistent pressure and quality.
- Handle molds carefully to prevent denting or galling of critical machined surfaces, and report any damage to molds or machines to the appropriate supervisor.
- Verify that preforms fit molds properly and report any discrepancies to the Crew Lead.
- Ensure proper engagement of molds when the press closes and pressure is applied, especially when molds are stacked and may shift.
- Follow all production, safety, and quality procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Use hand tools and basic shop equipment as needed during setup and production.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and support general production and labor tasks as required.
Essential Skills
- At least 2+ years of experience operating presses in a machine shop environment.
- Proven experience in production or manufacturing operations.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Hands-on experience with general production and general labor tasks.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Attention to detail when inspecting parts and adjusting machines.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Commitment to working safely in a shop environment with machinery and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in compression molding or working with rubber and plastic materials is beneficial.
- Experience in oil and gas industry components or similar industrial products is an advantage.
- Familiarity with hydraulic presses and mold setup is preferred.
- Comfort working in a structured production environment with defined quality standards.
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Work Environment
This position is based in a shop environment on a first shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You will work around production machinery, presses, and molds in a manufacturing setting. The role requires standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the shift. Steel-toe footwear and safety glasses are required at all times, and you must follow established safety procedures and shop rules while working with tools, equipment, and material
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Humble, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
