Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler maintains accurate inventory, supports production by issuing and kitting materials, and ensures all stock movements are properly documented in the system. This role works closely with a small team in a clean, climate-controlled environment to keep materials organized, available, and compliant with handling procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain organized inventory storage areas and perform regular cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Issue materials from the stockroom to production and other departments according to requests and work orders.
- Assemble and kit materials for special projects such as production control projects, sales orders, engineering change notices, nonconformance reports, and return material authorizations.
- Accurately pick, count, and label parts for production operations based on pick lists and other documentation.
- Document material shortages and discrepancies and enter accurate data into SAP or related systems.
- Audit returned kits, verify contents against documentation, and re-shelve materials in their proper locations.
- Follow established materials handling procedures and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control guidelines at all times.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including checking in materials and organizing incoming and outgoing inventory.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure timely and accurate material flow to production.
- Work flexible hours, including daily and weekly overtime, to meet production and operational needs.
Essential Skills
- Experience with material handling, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and cycle counts.
- Proficiency in kitting materials for production and special projects.
- Ability to accurately pick, count, and label parts according to pick lists and documentation.
- Basic computer literacy with the ability to enter and manage data in systems such as SAP.
- Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing inventory and documentation.
- Ability to follow established materials handling and ESD control procedures.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including daily and weekly overtime.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with a small group.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.
- Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP.
- Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple projects.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
