- Independently write, maintain, and refine complex automation scripts, focusing on readability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on automation scripts and systems that include multiple integration points across platforms and services.
- Lead or actively participate in code reviews to improve overall script and code quality, offering and receiving constructive feedback.
- Write clean, reusable, and high-quality code to solve novel or complex problems, and lead advanced code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices throughout the merge review process.
- Design patterns, practices, and platform capabilities that enable developers to integrate and deliver software components efficiently and reliably.
- Build, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure a fully functional, robust, and scalable software delivery ecosystem.
- Independently manage virtual servers, containers, and orchestration platforms, including provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Identify, design, and develop automation capabilities across local and cross-team or cross-organization environments that impact key business SLAs and KPIs.
- Implement security measures across pipelines and infrastructure to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex or novel system issues by analyzing logs, performance data, and overall system behavior.
- Define and enforce consistent branching strategies to support parallel development, code isolation, and seamless integration across multiple teams.
- Regularly review and analyze system performance metrics, proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve speed, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Handle multi-region or multi-cloud network management, including zero trust networks and virtual private networks.
- Assist in the planning and execution of canary deployments to safely roll out changes.
- Perform chaos engineering activities focused on networking to test and validate system resilience.
- Develop and implement strategies for network redundancy and disaster recovery to ensure high availability.
- Ensure that network and cloud infrastructure can withstand and recover from failures or disasters with minimal impact on services.
- Lead and facilitate technical discussions, sharing insights and recommendations grounded in DevOps principles and best practices.
- Coach and mentor more junior DevOps Engineers by providing targeted feedback and guidance to help them improve technical skills, overcome challenges, and achieve specific goals.
- Contribute to right-sizing and autoscaling strategies to support disaster recovery, handle peak performance times, and optimize cost.
- Support one-click deployments and automated release processes using tools such as Terraform and other automation platforms.
- Participate in an on-call rotation providing higher-level (4th level) support, including scripting-based troubleshooting and incident resolution.
Essential Skills
- At least 3+ years of production experience working as a DevOps Engineer or Software Engineer.
- Strong DevOps expertise with the ability to provide valuable insights and solve challenging problems in complex environments.
- Expertise in Terraform to create, modify, and manage infrastructure configurations.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to build, package, and deploy optimized container images.
- Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments.
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud platforms, including optimizing resource utilization and costs throughout the product lifecycle.
- Experience with cloud architecture and design patterns to build scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Expertise with at least one scripting language (such as Python) to develop custom tools, automate workflows, and integrate with APIs.
- Strong experience with version control systems, including branching, merging, and resolving merge conflicts.
- Familiarity with information security policies and procedures, with the ability to adhere to security standards and identify gaps in security architecture.
- Experience using monitoring and analytics platforms to set up monitors, alerts, and diagnostic tools for proactive issue detection and performance optimization across distributed systems.
- Understanding of cloud billing and cost management tools to recognize and manage total costs.
- Demonstrated advanced problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing tasks and projects.
- Ability to build healthy working relationships and collaborate effectively with peers and leaders.
- High standards of integrity and work quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Experience in designing and implementing right-sizing and autoscaling strategies to support disaster recovery, peak usage periods, and cost optimization.
- Strong focus on automation, including using tools and frameworks to validate and manage infrastructure as code.
- Experience with automation tools such as Terraform and similar platforms (for example, tools like Carpenter or other automation solutions) to help organizations move from manual processes to automated, one-click deployments.
- Experience implementing blue/green deployment strategies.
- Experience participating in higher-level on-call rotations, including scripting-based investigation and resolution.
- Familiarity with zero trust networks, virtual private networks, and multi-region or multi-cloud networking.
