Job Description
The Field Service Technician supports on-site operations within a semiconductor fabrication facility in Manassas, VA. Working closely with engineers, this role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of highly specialized semiconductor manufacturing tools. It is a hands-on technical position that requires strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly controlled cleanroom environment during a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Support engineers with on-site tool installation, including equipment setup and movement of heavy semiconductor manufacturing tools.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities to keep semiconductor manufacturing equipment operating reliably and efficiently.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on tools to resolve issues and restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on tool-related issues to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production continuity.
- Follow detailed procedures, safety protocols, and cleanroom standards within the semiconductor fabrication environment.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure proper tool performance, reliability, and compliance with operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, issues identified, and corrective actions taken.
- Use appropriate tools and techniques for mechanical work, wiring, and equipment installation as needed.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Prior technical experience in a field service, maintenance, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to work hands-on with complex equipment and tools.
- Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities to identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Ability to work on-site in a semiconductor fabrication facility, including in cleanroom conditions.
- Capability to lift and move equipment and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal procedures and adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly controlled cleanroom environment.
- Willingness to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with potential overtime as required.
- Experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Active or prior access badge for a semiconductor fabrication facility.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
- Familiarity with advanced semiconductor manufacturing tools and equipment.
- Experience with equipment installation, including mechanical assembly and wiring.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering and operations teams.
- Attention to detail in documentation and adherence to process guidelines.

Work Environment
This role is based on-site in a semiconductor fabrication facility (fab) in Manassas, VA, operating primarily in a highly controlled cleanroom environment. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime possible based on operational needs. The work involves frequent interaction with advanced semiconductor manufacturing tools, mechanical components, and wiring during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required, and all safety and cleanroom protocols must be followed at all times. The environment is structured, process-driven, and safety-focused, with physically active work that can include lifting and moving equipment and working around complex machinery.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
