REMOTE Technical Writer


Job Description:

We are seeking a Remote Technical Writer to support and collaborate with engineers in producing technical specifications, reports, manuals, presentations, procedures, and other documents for new commercial nuclear reactor projects. The role involves technical document reviews to ensure adherence to formatting and document standards, as well as assisting in various configuration management areas.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical writing support and updates for both new and existing documentation.
  • Ensure project deliverables are executed on time, with high quality, and within budget.
  • Develop quality and user-friendly formats and templates in accordance with industry and customer standards.
  • Edit and manage technical documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and implement documentation.
  • Prioritize, organize, and complete multiple activities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Collect, analyze, and compile information from various resources to create or edit procedures, reports, and documents.
  • Manage review and approval processes for documents, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Create, manage, and maintain websites, libraries, storage repositories, workflows, newsletters, etc., as assigned.
  • Process engineering changes through appropriate data management systems.
  • Update project schedules regularly and perform requirements traceability and publishing as required.
  • Support input into the Product Lifecycle Management System (PLM) and the Nuclear Collaboration System.
  • Perform records management functions and records maintenance activities, as assigned.
  • Conduct training for other staff members on Configuration Management functions.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (Associate's degree acceptable) in a related field.
  • Experience in technical writing within a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in editing documents, with a focus on detail and adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Mastery of MS Word, and proficiency with MS PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Adobe software for creating and modifying PDF files.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in technical writing within nuclear business, quality assurance, engineering, or computer technology.
  • Ability to develop new content from product specifications, interviews with technical subject experts, and other resources.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as word processing, presentation packages, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Team-focused personality with a willingness to ask questions and seek help.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) carefully.

Work Environment

  • This position is remote, requiring heavy interaction via Teams. You will be part of a fast-paced environment with a large project and diverse teams involved.
