The Electrical Designer prepares detailed architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings while ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications. This role interprets bid letters, customer specifications, and customer-supplied drawings to create complete design packages, performs standard engineering calculations, and develops work orders and Bills of Material alongside drawing production. The Electrical Designer also provides technical support to internal teams and customers, occasionally travels to support projects, and contributes to a collaborative, technically focused environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare a wide range of detailed architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings with a high level of accuracy and compliance with all relevant specifications and standards.
- Interpret and break down information from bid letters, customer specifications, and customer-supplied drawings to develop complete and coherent design packages.
- Perform standard engineering calculations, including AC service, HVAC, energy load, and structural calculations, to support design decisions and ensure system integrity.
- Develop work orders and detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) concurrently with drawing production to ensure alignment between design documentation and material requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to factory personnel, sales teams, and customers, helping to resolve design-related questions and issues.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.
- Travel occasionally to support projects, customers, or internal teams when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager to support departmental goals and project timelines.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical design, including the preparation of detailed electrical drawings and documentation.
- Technical aptitude in architectural, mechanical, and electrical design disciplines.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software, including Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, using the latest release, for creating and modifying design drawings.
- Solid understanding of algebra, geometry, and engineering-related mathematical formulas used in engineering calculations.
- Ability to perform standard engineering calculations such as AC service, HVAC, energy load, and structural calculations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with customers.
- Experience preparing coordinated architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawing packages.
- Experience developing work orders and Bills of Material (BOMs) alongside drawing production.
- Ability to interpret complex bid letters, customer specifications, and customer-supplied drawings and convert them into complete design packages.
- Comfort providing technical support to factory personnel, sales teams, and customers in a fast-paced project environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to support projects or internal teams as needed.
The role operates in a professional design and engineering environment that relies heavily on computer-based tools and industry-standard software, including Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, and the latest releases of AutoCAD and/or Revit. Work is primarily office-based, focusing on detailed drawing production, engineering calculations, and documentation, with regular collaboration across design, factory, and sales teams. The position may require occasional travel to project sites, customer locations, or other company facilities to support projects and internal teams.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
