Job Description
The Adult Services Program Director holds accountability for clinical, operational, and nursing management oversight for Adult Behavioral Services. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all phases of nursing care within the program, ensuring the highest standards of mental health promotion and comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care provided on the program.
- Determine staffing requirements and necessary material resources.
- Supervise and evaluate the competence and performance of nursing personnel.
- Participate in recruitment and community education processes.
- Provide direct supervision and support to nursing staff, utilizing effective communication.
- Schedule and maintain nursing staff assignments for 24-hour coverage.
- Maintain appropriate staffing patterns to ensure optimum patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the CNO and Medical Director to monitor program standards.
- Act as a liaison between physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Develop and maintain open working relationships with all hospital employees.
- Promote integration of behavioral health throughout the hospital.
- Assist with referral development and community education activities.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain and upgrade knowledge in psychiatric nursing through continuous learning.
Essential Skills
- Must be a Registered Nurse or Clinically Licensed.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in behavioral health.
- Experience in eating disorder recovery and discharge planning.
- Inpatient and behavioral health expertise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Work Environment
The role oversees a 22-bed inpatient program and includes overseeing RNs and LPNs. The position reports to the CNO and involves discharge planning responsibilities. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with standard hours from 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, and no weekend requirements. The work environment is safe, healthy, confidential, and trauma-informed, focusing on crisis intervention and stabilization.
