Job Title: Outside Trucking Recruiter
Job Description
The Outside Trucking Recruiter identifies, engages, and secures qualified independent contractor talent for transportation roles through high-volume, multi-channel outreach. This role focuses on sourcing both active and passive 1099 candidates, conducting initial screenings, and maintaining accurate recruitment data to support informed hiring decisions and competitive market positioning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute effective sourcing strategies across multiple platforms, including job boards, social media, professional networks, and community groups to attract qualified transportation independent contractors.
- Identify and engage both active and passive 1099 talent using modern sourcing tools and platforms, ensuring a strong and diverse pipeline of trucking candidates.
- Perform high-volume outreach via text, phone calls, and email to connect with on-the-go transportation independent contractors and generate ongoing candidate interest.
- Conduct structured phone screens to assess basic qualifications, compliance with DOT regulations, communication skills, and pay expectations, while creating a positive candidate experience.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking or CRM system, including statuses, notes, and activity logs for all recruitment interactions.
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics to measure sourcing effectiveness, conversion rates, and overall pipeline health.
- Gather and interpret data on competitor contracting trends, compensation rates, and talent availability to inform recruitment strategies and market positioning.
- Conform with and abide by all applicable regulations, organizational policies, work procedures, and instructions throughout the recruitment process.
- Adhere to organizational goals and objectives while maintaining high quality standards in candidate selection and communication.

Essential Skills
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in talent acquisition and independent contractor sourcing with a proven track record of successfully placing candidates.
- Experience recruiting within transportation or trucking environments and working with 1099 candidates.
- Strong familiarity with modern sourcing platforms, including job boards, social media, and professional networking tools.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms to manage candidate pipelines.
- Ability to conduct effective phone screens that assess compliance with DOT regulations, communication skills, and compensation expectations.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to build rapport quickly and put candidates at ease during screenings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requisitions, candidates, and outreach activities simultaneously.
- Self-motivation and resilience, with the ability to maintain productivity in a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment.
- Ability to learn and utilize organizational systems and equipment, including updates and upgrades, with minimal supervision.
- Strong integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information and representing the organization.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, supporting clear, open dialogue and teamwork.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Gainesville, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
