Job Title: Kubernetes Engineer (IRAD)
Job Description
This role focuses on evaluating and benchmarking Kubernetes tools and applications to understand and improve their performance and scalability. You will work in a hands-on, experimental environment, designing tests, automating analysis, and turning data into clear performance insights that guide technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Benchmark the performance of Kubernetes tools and applications to assess scalability and efficiency.
- Design and execute performance and network tests tailored to project requirements.
- Use network performance measurement tools such as iPerf to evaluate throughput, latency, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate test execution, data collection, and analysis workflows.
- Analyze test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and provide clear, data-driven optimization recommendations.
- Conduct both one-off and periodic performance and network testing based on evolving project needs.
- Document test plans, methodologies, and results in a clear and structured manner for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Active security clearance.
- Hands-on experience working with Kubernetes environments.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data analysis.
- Familiarity with performance testing methodologies and best practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with network benchmarking tools such as iPerf.
- Experience in systems performance engineering or DevOps.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex performance data.
- Strong reporting skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to diverse audiences.
Work Environment
You will work at a large, established site of more than 2,000 people located in Manassas, VA. The environment supports flexible scheduling options, including 4/10s, 9/80, or a traditional 5-day, 40-hour workweek. The role centers on Kubernetes-based environments and performance testing, leveraging tools such as iPerf and Python-based automation within a collaborative, engineering-focused setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $72.00/hr.
