Mechanical Design Engineer (Hybrid)

Description

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a client that designs and manufactures rugged compute and storage servers. The role is supporting the Department of the Navy. The designs will be used aboard warfighting and transportation platforms. The Engineer will help keep pace with the growth demand of the rugged servers.

Day to Day May Include...

• Perusing requirements and designing mechanical objects of various shapes, sizes, and materials to meet them
• Participating and collaborating in intra and inter team design and review efforts
• Incorporating design for cost, manufacturability, and repairability concepts into design work for product cost, functionality and performance
• Generating models from design for review and feedback
• Building and Analyzing prototypes and demonstrating them to others and being relied on to make adjustments
• Collaborating with vendors to fabricate parts
• Transferring designs to prepare for mass productions using tools like Composer

The ideal candidate will possess...

• A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years of experience in doing design with tools like Solidworks or similar CAD packages
• Experience in sheet metal, machining designs and fabrication, design for injection molding, and additive manufacturing
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

The Preferred Candidate will possess...

• Experience with Solidworks Flow Analysis and Composer Tool
• Experience designing computer enclosures to withstand environmental elements as specified in MIL-STD
