Job Title: Cyber Developer

Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a key Cyber engineering team that is building new security architectures for large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology fosters a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic designs aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations. Essentially, this system acts as the central nervous system of a submarine, connecting all the subsystems. Engineers in this role will utilize their expertise to write secure code for communications between Kubernetes and a private cloud for edge communication. The primary goal is to write defense code to secure communication, as this system controls all the submarine's subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Write secure and defensive code for communications in Kubernetes and private cloud environments.
  • Ensure interoperability of submarine subsystems through secure electronic designs.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to secure Edge Communication components of critical submarine systems.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of software development experience in C or C++ within a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Proficiency in network packet captures.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts including switch, router, firewall, and IDS.
  • Eligibility for Secret Clearance (Interim to start).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and containers.
  • Knowledge of Secure Coding Practices (RMF, STIG) and/or Cyber Security Solutions development.
  • Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Experience with large system development involving 10+ servers.
  • Capability to research Cybersecurity capabilities, perform trade studies, and provide expertise to peers and leadership.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing work from home during development stages and onsite presence during integration and testing phases. The workweek consists of four 10-hour days, offering a flexible schedule. The current team consists of three members, and two additional members will be added this year.

Compensation:$90
