Job Description
This role focuses on designing, integrating, and testing a Kubernetes-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) platform within a dynamic engineering environment. You will work hands-on with Kubernetes, Linux, and networking technologies to validate system functionality, ensure reliable service connectivity, and contribute to the overall quality and stability of the platform. This position is well-suited for detail-oriented engineers who enjoy manual testing, problem-solving, and continuously developing their technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Support the buildout and enhancement of a Kubernetes-based PaaS platform.
- Integrate Kubernetes components and services into the platform to ensure cohesive operation.
- Perform manual testing to validate overall system functionality and performance.
- Verify service connectivity, including TCP/IP communication between services and components.
- Write, execute, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases.
- Create, configure, and manage Kubernetes resources, including Pods and related objects.
- Document testing processes, test cases, and test results in a clear and organized manner.
- Use tools such as JIRA, DOORS, and TestRail to track requirements, defects, and test execution, with training provided as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering team members to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve integration and test issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of integration and testing practices within the team.
- Active security clearance.
- 2–5+ years of professional experience as an engineer or tester at a comparable level (Level 2/3).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including working with Pods and other core resources.
- Practical experience with Linux in an engineering or testing environment.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and service-to-service communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a manual testing environment, following and executing test procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to write and execute structured test plans and test cases.
- Experience with system testing or integration testing in a complex technical environment.
- Exposure to test management and requirements tools such as JIRA, DOORS, and TestRail.
- Experience writing test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes in a fast-paced engineering setting.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
You will work on-site at a large engineering campus of over 2,000 professionals in Manassas, VA, collaborating closely with other engineers and technical staff. The environment is highly technical and team-oriented, with a strong focus on system integration, testing, and platform reliability. You will use modern tools and technologies, including Kubernetes, Linux, and test management platforms such as JIRA, DOORS, and TestRail, with training available where needed. The schedule is flexible, offering options such as a 4/10 workweek, a 9/80 schedule, or a traditional 5-day, 40-hour week, allowing you to choose a structure that best supports your work-life balance.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $72.00/hr.
