Job Description
The Brazer assembles and brazes coil components according to detailed drawings and work orders, ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards. This role involves using hand and power tools, welding and brazing equipment, and overhead lifting systems to build and process coils in a clean, climate-controlled production environment. The position requires attention to detail, steady hands, and the ability to collaborate with team members to support safety, quality, production, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Gather and prepare component parts for each build, including fins, casings, and hairpins, in accordance with work orders and drawings.
- Retrieve coils from the work-in-process (WIP) lane and safely place them on work tables using overhead lifting equipment based on certified level requirements.
- Move work tables and coils to the brazing area and ensure components are properly staged for assembly.
- Assemble return bends, headers, and distributors on each coil following specifications and engineering drawings.
- Braze components to the coil using a brazing torch, strictly following SRC specifications and information provided on drawings.
- Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and grinders to support fabrication, assembly, and finishing operations.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain high standards of safety, quality, production efficiency, and on-time delivery.
- Push or pull larger items, such as pallets and coils on carts, as needed to support workflow and production.
- Identify and tag unsafe equipment, promptly reporting issues to help maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Take on additional duties or assist in other departments as production and departmental needs change.
- Participate in daily meetings to receive and share information relevant to second shift operations.
Essential Skills
- Ability to perform brazing operations using a brazing torch on coil components according to specifications and drawings.
- Steady hands and fine motor control to complete precise, high-quality brazes.
- Experience in fabrication, including working with metal components and assemblies.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Experience with welding equipment and basic welding processes.
- Ability to operate grinders and related finishing tools.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skill in using measurement tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical assembly work.
- Physical ability to push or pull pallets and coils on carts and to work in a production environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn brazing techniques if not already experienced.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in welding, assembly, brazing, fabrication, and mechanical assembly is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working in a fabrication or welding shop environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers on safety, quality, production, and delivery goals.
- Flexibility to assist in other departments as needs arise.
- Openness to training and skill development in brazing and related processes, even for candidates coming from non-manufacturing backgrounds.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in all work performed.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed for comfort and efficiency. Work takes place in and around a welding shop located at the back of the building, with production flowing toward the front before products are shipped out. The environment includes an updated, modern cafeteria and an onsite gym that all employees can access, with opportunities to earn health insurance bonus incentives by using the gym. The position typically works an afternoon and evening schedule, roughly 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a required daily meeting at 2:30 p.m. to share information with second shift. The schedule is fluid to support second shift supervision and evolving production needs, and employees are expected to follow appropriate attire and safety practices suitable for a welding and fabrication shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
