As a Site Inspector, you will enforce adopted city ordinances, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance. You will conduct inspections of public rights-of-way and other public areas, serving as an enforcement officer. This role involves recommending approval of corrective proposals, coordinating contractor work, interpreting and explaining codes, rules, and regulations, and interacting with property owners, attorneys, architects, and other stakeholders to coordinate inspections and referrals.
Responsibilities- Recommend approval of corrective proposals.

- Correspond and meet with property owners, attorneys, architects, and other organizations.
- Review construction and demolition permits.
- Process liens for properties demolished or boarded due to unauthorized public uses.
- Maintain databases and files, generating reports as needed.
- Prepare, use, and serve court summons, subpoenas, citations, and administrative appeals.
- Research ownership data through legal documentation.
- Inspect properties for nuisance and environmental violations, unlawful vegetation, and unlawful vehicles.

- Eligibility for Virginia designation as 'Conservator of the Peace' (if assigned to property maintenance inspections)
- Associate’s degree or two-year technical certificate
- Three (3) or more years of related experience performing inspections and implementing environmental and enforcement plans
- Diplomacy in delivering customer service and public contact
- A high school diploma and five (5) or more years of inspection experience may be considered as an alternative qualification
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as approved by the department
The position requires working in public areas and involves inspecting a variety of environments for compliance with city ordinances. The role may require attending training sessions to stay updated on regulations and enforcement techniques. A valid driver's license is essential for travel to various inspection sites.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
