Job Description
The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role within the HR team at a Richmond-based manufacturing unit, contributing directly to the overall HR impact and value delivered to the business. This position supports HR Business Partners in implementing people strategies aligned with business objectives in a rapidly evolving environment and provides operational HR support across recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, and HR administration. The role focuses on applying HR policies, enhancing employee experience, supporting HR-related projects, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and U.S. employment legislation while driving continuous improvement in HR processes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners to support day-to-day HR activities in assigned areas and functions.
- Assist in implementing people strategies that align HR initiatives with business objectives in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Provide operational HR support, including recruitment activities for production workers, onboarding, and orientation processes.
- Manage time and attendance activities and coordinate with the HR Services team on HR administration and payroll-related tasks.
- Support HR Business Partners in addressing general HR policy issues and employee queries, ensuring consistent policy application.
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of HR policies and procedures across the organization.
- Support employee engagement initiatives aimed at improving overall employee experience and satisfaction.
- Assist with internal communication activities to ensure clear and timely information sharing with employees.
- Participate in HR-related projects, providing support to HR Business Partners and contributing to project execution.
- Ensure all HR activities comply with organizational values, Code of Conduct, internal procedures, and U.S. employment legislation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance HR processes and implementing improvements in line with business needs.
- Maintain accurate HR records and documentation to support compliance and effective HR administration.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to achieve HR and business goals.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Approximately 2 years of experience working in a human resources department.
- Solid understanding of HR processes and U.S. employment regulations.
- Proven experience in HR administration activities, including documentation and HR data management.
- Basic understanding of key HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and compensation and benefits.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in HR records, documentation, and administrative tasks.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple HR activities.
- Analytical skills to interpret HR data and support decision-making.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate within the HR team and across functions.
- Demonstrated drive toward achieving results and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for HR documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Experience in human resources support and administrative support functions.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing unit in Richmond and involves working closely with production and office staff in a fast-paced, operational environment. The Human Resources Specialist collaborates regularly with HR Business Partners, HR Services teams, and other functional departments. Work typically involves standard office hours, with occasional flexibility required to support recruitment, onboarding, and time-sensitive HR activities. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
