Job Description
The Ink Operator is responsible for the precise formulation, processing, and handling of specialty inks used in high-security printing applications. This role ensures strict adherence to quality, safety, and confidentiality standards while supporting production operations in a controlled manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has experience in chemical handling, manufacturing processes, and working in highly regulated industries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, mix, and process specialty inks according to detailed formulations and batch instructions.
- Accurately measure raw materials (pigments, solvents, additives) using calibrated equipment.
- Operate and monitor mixing equipment, mills, and associated machinery.
- Perform in-process quality checks (viscosity, color matching, density, etc.) to ensure product meets specifications.
- Maintain strict compliance with company security protocols and confidentiality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, solvents, and hazardous materials.
- Document batch records, production logs, and quality data accurately and in real time.
- Troubleshoot production issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and workstations according to SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to meet operational goals.
- 2+ years of experience in ink manufacturing, coatings, printing, or chemical processing environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in chemistry, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise formulations and instructions.
- Basic understanding of chemistry principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, SOPs, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Proficiency with basic computer systems for data entry and documentation.
- Experience in regulated or controlled manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools.

Work Environment
Work in a production facility that is very clean despite the presence of solvents, with an ink/paint smell. The job involves manual labor and heavy lifting. The first shift runs from 6am to 2pm. No medical, DOT, licensing, or PPE certifications required.
