Job Description
This role supports the efficient flow of materials and finished goods throughout a manufacturing and warehouse facility, with a strong focus on shipping and packaging. You will move, stage, and store materials using forklifts and pallet jacks, build crates using basic hand tools, perform detailed shipping and inventory data entry, and ensure that products are packaged and shipped accurately and on time. The position begins as a contract/temporary assignment to cover a leave of absence, with the potential to transition to full-time employment depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Move and stage parts, materials, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Update part and material location data accurately in the computer system to maintain real-time inventory visibility.
- Issue kits for production work-in-progress (WIP) and final assembly, ensuring that all required components are available when needed.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by following established procedures for material movements, counts, and documentation.
- Transport parts and materials between locations and departments in accordance with product routers and production requirements.
- Receive finished goods from production (WIP) and transfer them to appropriate storage or shipping areas.
- Perform shipping department tasks including packaging, palletizing, and preparing products for domestic and international shipment.
- Build shipping crates using basic hand tools and follow engineering drawings or written instructions to ensure proper protection of products.
- Complete detailed shipping documentation, including shipping documents, bills of lading (BOLs), customs paperwork, packing slips, and ship-out reports.
- Track customer shipping requirements, freight accounts, and payment methods, and ensure shipments comply with customer specifications.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for damaged shipments and follow established procedures for reporting and resolution.
- Handle general shipping and receiving activities, including routing outgoing company and customer shipments via various transportation methods.
- Read and interpret engineering bills of materials, blueprints, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate material handling and packaging.
- Perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, to verify counts and documentation.
- Lift and move materials and packages weighing 40 pounds or more as part of daily material handling and shipping duties.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and actively support departmental housekeeping standards.
- Comply with all safety procedures, facility rules, and company policies while operating forklifts and handling materials.
- Actively participate in company-sponsored training programs, including safety, equipment operation, and process training.
- Collaborate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as outside contacts such as vendors and customers.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support production, shipping, and overall facility operations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions to perform daily duties safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail for inventory accuracy, documentation, and shipping requirements.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to type approximately 30 words per minute for data entry and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering bills of materials, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely; prior forklift experience required, with openness to onsite certification if not currently certified.
- Safe fork truck driving skills, including maneuvering in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use basic hand tools to build crates and packaging structures.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to lift and move 40+ pounds as part of regular material handling and shipping duties.
- Previous experience in warehouse, shipping, receiving, or material handling (at least 1 year preferred).
- Experience with shipping, receiving, packaging, and palletizing in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Stand-up forklift experience and/or forklift certification, with willingness to obtain or renew certification onsite.
- Experience handling domestic and international shipments, including BOLs, customs documents, and packing slips.
- Familiarity with tracking customer shipping requirements, freight accounts, and various payment methods.
- Experience with data entry related to shipping documents, damage reports, and inventory transactions.
- Comfort working in a high-accuracy, time-sensitive shipping and material handling environment.
- Willingness to work a contract-to-hire role that may transition to full-time based on business conditions.
- Ability to reliably commute to the facility for early morning or afternoon shifts.

Work Environment
The role is based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment that produces hydraulic actuators. The facility operates multiple shifts, including a first shift from approximately 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and a swing shift from approximately 1:15 PM to 9:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Work is hands-on and physical, involving regular lifting of 40+ pounds, operating stand-up forklifts and pallet jacks, building crates with basic hand tools, and handling materials and finished goods on the shop floor. The position is focused heavily in the shipping department, with significant time spent packaging, palletizing, and preparing products for shipment, as well as performing detailed data entry for shipping documents, bills of lading, customs forms, packing slips, and shipment reports. The environment is safety-driven, with required use of PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, and other protective gear, all of which are provided by the company along with uniforms. Employees work around industrial equipment and must follow established safety procedures and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.45 - $22.45/hr.
