Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Join a leading provider of composite manufacturing and repair equipment with over 40 years of experience. As part of our research and development group, you will work with a small team of engineers to design and build the next generation of innovative products in a growing industry. This role requires a self-driven, creative engineer with keen insight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead circuit board design and development for new and innovative products.
  • Perform troubleshooting and collaborate with production on prototype and early-stage product builds.
  • Create, maintain, and improve engineering documentation for detailed drawings of electrical equipment and sub-assemblies, including schematics, wire diagrams, and circuit boards.
  • Design, simulate, and test complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal systems.
  • Perform electronic design activity, including circuit boards, interface cabling, system integration, firmware integration, and power system architecture.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials for products produced. Research and recommend purchase of parts and materials used in prototyping and production.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing, including process specifications, test procedures, operation manuals, repair instructions, technical literature, and graphic and pictorial data.
  • Write structured code to meet software/firmware requirements.
  • Document, maintain, and test software configurations. Interface with vendors to develop and enhance software for use in the product offerings.
  • Compile and analyze test data to determine the effect of product design on various factors such as temperature, pressure, environmental factors, and energy consumption. Confer with mechanical engineering and technical personnel to troubleshoot design issues such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretation.
  • Use project management skills to interface with outside activities, professional groups, and customers to coordinate and facilitate special projects either under contract or as part of an industry area of interest that is aligned with the company mission.

Essential Skills

  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, engineering drawings, and possess moderate proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to design, maintain, and improve PCB design using Altium or similar software.
  • Experience with embedded systems design and common digital communication interfaces (USB, SPI, I2C).
  • Experience implementing firmware and software including C, Python, and Linux OS.
  • Must be familiar with PID controllers, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
  • Hands-on electronics prototyping experience, including soldering and rework of fine-pitch SMT components.
  • Extensive experience testing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, test plans, work instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficient in instrumentation for testing hardware, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, hi-pot testers, multimeters, etc.
  • Understanding of how to design for manufacturability, reliability, and low cost.
  • Due to legal requirements, must be a United States citizen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to design wire cables by sizing and selecting wires, connectors, pins, and sockets for functionality and safety requirements.
  • Embedded Linux experience.
  • Experience with UL standards, specifically UL 508, -1, 603335-1.
  • CE compliance and testing.
  • Project Management and planning.
  • Design and Testing of prototypes.

Work Environment

100% on-site at the Tukwila location, office setting. Drug-free working environment. Combination of usual office conditions and manufacturing environment. Some elements in the production area may be present which make conditions less desirable than usually found in an office setting.
