Job Title: Structural Engineer


Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for leading engineering and design activities within your assigned functional area, focusing on structural engineering analysis, design, and project management. You will collaborate with higher-level engineers, internal teams, and client personnel to successfully complete various projects.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work activities within the work group and department to complete structural projects.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
  • Utilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations.
  • Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs, and Field Review Plan.
  • Work with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on one-line diagrams and electrical arrangement drawings.
  • Review structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings, and other project documents to ensure compliance with design theory, specified materials, and applicable structural codes and standards.
  • Make recommendations for improving structural designs, drawings, or documents.
  • Create material requisitions and work with fabricators to verify lead times and costs for steel orders in accordance with project schedules.
  • Coordinate with electrical designers and other structural team members to complete required submittals by the project schedule.
  • Function as a project lead for structural projects.
  • Initiate corrective actions when substation project objectives are not being met.
  • Interpret codes and regulations applicable to project work.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in substation, electrical engineering, and structural engineering.
  • Proficiency in design engineering and project engineering.
  • Knowledge of substation design, substation engineering, and physical design.
  • Ability to interpret codes and regulations.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of experience in structural engineering, analysis, and foundation work.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in completing engineering projects from start to finish.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for structural projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution will count towards years of experience.
  • A SE License is required for the State of Washington.
