Sheet Metal Mechanic (Marine / Shipyard) – Seattle, WA
Pay: $38/hour
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Sunday–Saturday (every other Sunday off)
Start Date: ASAP
Overview
Aerotek is partnering with a leading client to hire experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics / Shipfitters for a high-priority marine project in Seattle. This is a fast-paced, overtime-heavy opportunity ideal for skilled tradespeople with shipyard or industrial sheet metal experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components on marine vessels
- (ductwork, ventilation systems, bulkheads, lockers, structural components, etc.)
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Perform layout, cutting, bending, forming, and joining of sheet metal to precise tolerances
- Install and repair HVAC and ventilation duct systems onboard vessels
- Operate equipment such as shears, press brakes, and welding tools safely and efficiently
- Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety standards
- Work collaboratively with other trades to meet production deadlines
- Maintain safety practices while working in tight spaces and physically demanding conditions
Qualifications
Required:
- Hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience using hand and power tools (shears, press brakes, welders, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding environments
Preferred:
- Shipyard, marine, or industrial construction experience
- HVAC / duct installation experience
Work Environment
- Outdoor shipyard setting on active marine vessels
- Work performed in tight or confined spaces
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding, safety-focused environment
- Use of PPE and standard industrial gear required

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.
