Job Title: Flooring Installer
Job Description
The Flooring Installer is responsible for installing hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate flooring with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. This role involves operating buffing machines and edgers, applying finishes and paint to flooring, and preparing job sites to ensure durable and visually appealing results. It is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on construction work, understands wood materials, and takes pride in delivering quality flooring installations that stand the test of time.
Responsibilities
- Install hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate flooring according to project specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare job sites by performing demolition, removing existing flooring, and clearing work areas as needed.
- Level and prepare subfloors, including performing moisture testing and layout planning before installation.
- Measure, cut, and fit flooring materials accurately using professional tools and techniques.
- Operate buffing machines and edgers safely and effectively to smooth and finish flooring surfaces.
- Apply finishes, sealants, and paint to flooring to achieve the desired appearance and durability.
- Repair or replace damaged flooring sections to restore function and appearance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after each project.
- Follow safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment while on site.
- Collaborate with crew members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Travel from the shop to job sites and return to the shop at the end of the workday as required.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of construction experience.
- Experience or strong interest in flooring installation or related construction trades.
- Ability to operate buffing machines and edgers or willingness to learn under guidance.
- Ability to measure, cut, and fit flooring materials accurately.
- Capability to perform demolition and subfloor preparation tasks.
- Reliability and strong attendance record.
- Physical ability to bend, kneel, and work on hands and knees for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew.
Work Environment
You will work primarily inside buildings installing flooring in a variety of residential or commercial spaces. The culture is that of a small, family-owned company where crews typically consist of 2–4 people who collaborate closely on each project. The standard work schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting at the shop and returning to the shop at the end of the day. Construction work pants and steel-toe boots are required as part of the dress code. All necessary tools are provided, and personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, is supplied to support a safe and professional work environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
