Job Title: Packaging Operator – 1st Shift
Job Description
The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of processing and packaging equipment from start-up to shut-down to produce safe, high-quality food products. This role includes operating both manual and computer-controlled machines, performing set-ups and changeovers, and supporting the mixing and cooking of candy recipes to ensure consistent, reliable production.
Responsibilities
- Operate processing and packaging equipment safely and efficiently from start-up to shut-down to produce food products for human consumption.
- Perform equipment set-ups and changeovers based on the production schedule and product requirements for the day.
- Change programs and parameters in chocolate tempering machines, depositors, enrobers, and other food processing and packaging machines to achieve desired product specifications.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) for all tasks related to cooking, mixing, and equipment operation.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety procedures at all times to maintain a clean and compliant production environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of machine operating experience in a food production or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in food production or food manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in packaging and machine operation within a food production setting.
- Capability to lift and move 50 pounds or more safely as part of daily duties.
- Experience working under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations in a food facility.

Work Environment
This role is based in a GMP-regulated food manufacturing facility specializing in chocolate-covered nuts, candies, and related confectionery products for major retailers. The position is on 1st shift, with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., operating on a four-day work week from Monday through Thursday. The factory temperature generally ranges from 67 to 90 degrees due to chocolate processing requirements. The environment includes both manual and computer-controlled machinery, chocolate tempering equipment, depositors, enrobers, mixers, blenders, and packaging lines. Employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict GMP and food safety standards while working around heavy equipment and performing heavy lifting as part of daily operations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $50000.00/yr.
