Job Title: Field Engineer
Job Description
The Project/Field Engineer will be a part of the industrial group, traveling to various complex industrial projects across the country. Project durations will range from 3 weeks to 18 months on-site, with scheduled visits home.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis of construction methods, including crane reaches, formwork design, erosion control, and grading modifications.
- Produce miscellaneous sketches and drawings to show field conditions to the architect, clarify plan details for craft persons, and propose alternate details.
- Verify quality and compliance of installation with specifications and drawings for all work.
- Process and expedite answers to RFIs generated from the field, ensuring correct incorporation of answers.
- Participate in and contribute to Operation Planning Process and weekly coordination meetings, superintendent meetings, daily crew huddles, and foreman meetings.
- Schedule and conduct pre-installation meetings for any subcontractor with on-site labor. Prepare meeting agendas and ensure attendance by all parties.
- Prepare and monitor written delivery schedule logs. Inspect shipments of all deliveries as directed by the Superintendent.
- Expedite project closeout by tracking and verifying completion of punch list items.
Essential Skills
- Four-year engineering degree related to construction preferred.
- 1-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer on industrial projects preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Willingness to travel.

- Experience with construction, RFIs, change orders, project engineering, project coordination, commercial construction, estimation, project scheduling, blueprints, construction management, project management, field engineering, general contracting, ground-up projects, and building systems.
Work Environment
The position will report to the Madison, WI office but requires heavy travel. Engineers will spend a few weeks on-site followed by a few weeks back home. The work involves managing various industrial projects, predominantly upgrades to existing manufacturing food and beverage facilities. The role includes working alongside a superintendent and project manager, managing subcontractors. The company supports some solar work locally, though most projects are expansions and remodels. Typical work weeks are 40-50 hours, with mileage reimbursement, housing or per diem offered depending on project specifics. The health plan varies by location, with Milwaukee Network Health coverage in Milwaukee.
