Job Title: Architectural Drafter
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting the lead architect and designer by producing accurate and detailed construction documents for both residential and commercial projects. The architectural drafter collaborates closely with the design team to translate design concepts into clear, buildable drawings while contributing to selections and space planning activities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the lead architect and designer to develop complete construction documents for residential and commercial projects.
- Translate design concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate architectural drawings using drafting software.
- Prepare detailed plans, sections, elevations, and other construction-related documentation in accordance with project requirements.
- Support residential design efforts by producing drawings that reflect design intent, code requirements, and project constraints.
- Assist with interior design tasks, including selections of finishes, fabrics, furniture, and other materials, ensuring they align with the overall design vision.
- Perform space planning and develop space plans that optimize layout, functionality, and aesthetics for residential and commercial interiors.
- Coordinate selections and space planning details within construction documents to maintain consistency and clarity.
- Use software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural drafting programs to produce high-quality drawings.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards before submission.
- Work closely with the design team to incorporate feedback and revisions into construction documents in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation throughout the design and construction documentation process.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of drafting experience in architecture.
- Proficiency in architectural drafting for residential design projects.
- Experience creating construction documents for residential and/or commercial projects.
- Ability to perform selections work, including finishes, fabrics, furniture, and related interior design elements.
- Experience in space planning and developing functional, well-organized space plans.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drafting and documentation.
- Experience using Revit for architectural design and documentation.
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles and construction documentation standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects and designers and follow design direction accurately.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in drawings and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is preferred.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with design team members.
This is a Permanent position based out of New Berlin, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $31.25/hr.
