Manufacturing Site Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Site Engineer leads ongoing process improvement initiatives across the manufacturing value chain, with a strong focus on capital projects and operational excellence. This role develops and enhances manufacturing processes and product quality by studying products and manufacturing methods, identifying improvement opportunities, and collaborating closely with operations and manufacturing teams to ensure effective implementation of improvement plans.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and partner with the Operations team to plan, organize, and execute capital projects, including managing outages, contractors, and equipment to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope.
- Contribute to facility transformation initiatives, including technology transfers and the ongoing maintenance and optimization of mixed-model production lines or value streams.
- Ensure the long-term success of process improvement initiatives by developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and process documentation that support consistent and reliable operations.
- Implement demand-driven principles and strategies that enhance flexibility, speed, and responsiveness in support of operational excellence and long-range business plans.
- Generate and contribute innovative ideas to improve business results, including productivity, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Deploy standard engineering tools, methodologies, standards, practices, and processes to drive consistency and best practices across the manufacturing site.
- Implement objectives and continuous improvement initiatives that support customer satisfaction, fulfillment needs, and overall performance targets.
- Design and optimize area layouts and process definitions to improve flow, efficiency, and safety in the manufacturing environment.
- Develop, program, and support PLC-based control systems as needed for new or existing equipment and processes.
- Lead the design, selection, justification, and implementation of equipment, programs, tooling, and related systems to support capital projects and process improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new processes and equipment meet quality, safety, and performance requirements.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of implemented improvements, making data-driven recommendations for further enhancements.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology.
- 3–5 years of related experience in an engineering function within a similar manufacturing or industrial environment.
- 3–5 years of experience in the engineering field, with direct exposure to manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing capital projects, including planning, execution, and coordination with operations and contractors.
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on improving process efficiency and product quality.
- Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or ProE.
- Ability to develop and implement process documentation, policies, and procedures to support consistent operations.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of lean principles and process improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing methods and identify opportunities for improvement across the value chain.
- Experience working with area layouts, process definitions, and equipment justification and implementation.
Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing facility environment that includes production lines, equipment, and mixed-model value streams. The Manufacturing Site Engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional teams on the shop floor and in office or engineering spaces. The position involves frequent interaction with contractors and vendors during capital projects, as well as hands-on involvement in equipment selection, installation, and commissioning. Standard engineering and CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ProE are used regularly, along with PLC programming tools as needed. Work may involve planning and overseeing outages, coordinating project timelines, and supporting process changes during production. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, operational excellence, and collaboration, with a focus on safety, quality, and responsiveness to customer needs.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Oshkosh, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
