Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

Perform daily chemistry-based testing, including metals and environmental testing. Assist other chemists and technicians with various test methods as needed. Document daily lab data and fill out documents appropriately. Clean and prepare lab equipment and stations on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemistry-based testing, focusing on metals and environmental analyses.
• Provide support to chemists and technicians with other test methods.
• Accurately document lab data and complete necessary paperwork.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of lab equipment and workstations.

Essential Skills

• Degree or experience in chemistry-based testing preferred.
• Industry lab experience, ideally in environmental or metals testing, or experience using ICP, ICP-MS, or AA equipment.
• Approximately 1+ years of chemistry lab testing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related fields.
• Experience with Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), titration, wet chemistry, atomic absorption.

Work Environment

The position is based in a contract laboratory, primarily in an office setting with occasional lab visits. The role is first shift, with flexible starting times at 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., or 8:00 a.m., working 40 to 45 hours weekly. Some overtime may be available based on performance. The work week is typically Sunday through Thursday, with flexibility for Monday through Friday if Sunday work is not required. The environment is fast-paced and can become hectic with high sample volumes. You will collaborate with sample couriers, lab technicians, supervisors, and managers daily, and interact with clients primarily via email and occasionally by phone.
