The Materials Science Division (MSD) of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral appointee in electrochemistry and surface science. The research project, within the Advanced Materials for Energy Water System (AMEWS) EFRC and supervised by Alex Martinson, aims to probe the limits of selective adsorption and transport and to steer electrochemical reactions to targeted reaction pathways that have potential impact on aqueous pollution remediation. As Deputy Director for Operations, the incumbent will assist the Argonne's Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) Director of Operations in coordinating and managing the facility's operational activities. This Deputy will help oversee the group's day-to-day operations, including project and asset management. The X-ray Science Division (XSD) enables world-class research using x-rays by developing cutting edge x-ray instrumentation and techniques; pursues research in the physical, chemical, environmental, and materials sciences. To accomplish this mission, it fully operates 43 beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) , and jointly operates an additional beamline in partnership with Argonne's Center for Nanoscale materials. The Chemicals and Materials Science (CMS) group within the X-ray Science Division specializes in small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) for characterizing nanoscale structures, kinetics, and dynamics in various research fields ranging from molecular biology, physics, chemistry, polymer science, and soft materials. The 12-ID-E high resolution SAXS program, led by the group, focuses on leveraging coherent x-ray beam in SAXS. CMS is currently seeking candidates for an early-career staff scientist position centered on the coherent SAXS program at 12-ID. The primary responsibility of this role is to advance SAXS techniques including coherent SAXS imaging, ptychography, and scanning SAXS imaging. The X-ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS) program, led by the group, focuses on investigating dynamics in materials using scattering and diffraction-based techniques. ESIA is a part of the Advanced Energy Technologies directorate of Argonne National Laboratory. In this position the candidate develops and applies methodologies and tools for techno-economic analyses of energy technologies and systems, including conventional and renewable electricity generating technologies, energy storage, demand response, distributed energy resources, and others. Tools include computer modeling and simulations, databases, analysis algorithms, computational methodologies, economic and financial models. Analyses include power system operation and expansion, engineering economics and finance, life cycle analysis, optimization and equilibrium analysis, impact analysis, market penetration, and interdependencies. Personnel have education and/or experience in engineering or economics disciplines. Post-doctoral Appointee -- Pyrometallurgy

The Nanoscience and Technology Division (NST) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is looking for experimental postdoctoral candidate in the area of synthesis of single crystal diamond and their heterointegration with other materials for developing energy efficient devices. The postdoctoral candidate will be a part of highly collaborative research team focusing on the synthesis and characterization aspect of single crystal diamond utilizing microwave plasma CVD available at NST. The candidate is expected to work on developing synthesizing single crystal diamond and finding novel ways in integrating diamond with other semiconductor materials. The studies will involve fabrication of heterojunction devices as well as detail characterization of the interface using various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques. Position Requirements<ul><li>A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied physics, or related field.
