Data Scientist II is the journey-level role for experienced professionals who work independently on complex projects. Incumbents take on broader responsibilities, lead analytical efforts, and help shape data-driven practices across EBMUD. This recruitment is specifically seeking qualified applicants for the Data Scientist I level. Data Scientist I

The Position East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is inviting skilled electricians with industrial electrical experience to apply for the position of Electrical Technician. Electrical Technician

The Position Assistant Engineers (Electrical) perform a variety of professional electrical engineering assignments in connection with the operation of a large municipal water supply and wastewater utility. This is the second level position in the engineering series, which may include direction of lower-level engineers or technical staff in specific project areas. Assignments are under the direct supervision of registered engineers and provide qualifying experience for registration. The current openings are in the Electrical Engineering Section and Plant Engineering Services Section, part of the Design Division and Facilities Maintenance and Construction Division, respectively. The ideal Assistant Engineer candidate should possess some of the following: &bull; Industrial electrical and control engineering work experience. &bull; Knowledge of up-to-date power, instrumentation, and control systems. &bull; Experience coordinating electrical engineering activities with others including other discipline engineers/workgroups (e.g., mechanical, civil/structural, commissioning, instrumentation control systems, etc.), consultants, contractors, and representatives of other agencies. &bull; Experience working collaboratively to provide timely and efficient service and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. &bull; Excellent written and communication skills, and experience in conducting meetings and making presentations. &bull; The ability to explain technical information so that it is easily understood by a non-technical audience. Electrical Engineering Section - Design Division The Electrical Engineering (EE) workgroup is part of the multi-disciplinary Design Division that is responsible for preparing electrical engineering studies and designs for capital projects to upgrade or replace power distribution systems, reservoirs, pumping plants, and water treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in power system engineering and analysis, corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance standards. This candidate will also possess the ability to learn and develop new areas of expertise as required by the tasks assigned to him/her. Electrical engineers in the EE workgroup are responsible for preparing construction drawings and specifications including electrical site plans, single lines, conduit, and cable schedules, wiring diagrams, instrumentation diagrams, and design details for various electrical systems including mechanical and process equipment, switchboards/switchgears, motor control centers, heating, air conditioning, and lighting. Responsibilities also include providing electrical engineering support and expertise during the planning and construction phases of projects and to other EBMUD workgroups such as maintenance and construction. Plant Engineering Services Section - Facilities & Maintenance Division The Plant Engineering Services (PES) workgroup is part of the Facilities Maintenance and Construction Division that is responsible for supporting the operations and maintenance for over 400 District facilities including substations, treatment plants, pumping plants, rate control stations, reservoirs, and administrative facilities. The ideal candidate in the Plant Engineering Services Section will have strong technical expertise in medium-, and low voltage power system engineering and analysis, acceptance and maintenance testing standards, and project management experience. They will also possess the ability to learn and develop new areas of expertise as required by the tasks assigned to them Duties in both positions include: Project Planning, Construction, and Management: Planning and developing project scope, schedule and budget for small water electrical engineering projects; prepare contract bid documents; managing consultants including invoices and work products, coordinating the work of multi-disciplinary teams; directing, monitoring, and controlling project activities and ensuring compliance with scope, goals, schedules and budgets. Engineering Field Support: Providing technical engineering support to operations and maintenance addressing electrical equipment failures, safety, and maintenance concerns. This may include updating electrical design drawings and specifications, specifying equipment purchases, developing maintenance plans and job procedures for assets, providing support during testing, and performing root cause analysis on malfunctioning electrical equipment. Design: Researching and developing electrical design criteria, project scope and cost, design drawings and specifications for systems and equipment including substations, power distribution systems, water treatment plants, pumping stations, and office facilities. Preparing and reviewing electrical power system analyses including load flow, transient motor starting, short circuit, protective relays, and arc flash. Written Communication: Preparing concise and accurate engineering reports, correspondence and memos for a wide variety of audiences including EBMUD staff, government and regulatory agencies, contractors, and the general public. Due to the specialization of work done by the sections, the incumbent should have knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, practices, and methods as applied to the design, construction, installation, and testing of power distribution including medium- and low-voltage systems, motor control, process control, telemetry, automation, and electronically based systems. Assistant Engineer (Electrical)

The Position Engineering Designer I is the entry level classification in the Engineering Designer series. This position will perform the more routine tasks and duties including CAD/BIM design drafting of complex facilities, site reconnaissance and documentation of wastewater assets, pipeline and utility systems plan and profile designs, grading and drainage designs, and mechanical and electrical layouts. Individuals can advance to Engineering Designer II after gaining experience and achieving proficiency which meets the requirements for the Engineering Designer II classification. This position works closely with supervisors, Engineering Designer IIs, project managers and engineers, construction managers, contractors, consultants, surveyors, and other technical and administrative personnel. Major responsibilities require the use of initiative, independent judgment, critical thinking, and interactions with a variety of personnel throughout East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). The immediate vacancy is in the Wastewater Drafting Unit of the Design Section, part of EBMUD's Wastewater Engineering Division. The subject matter of the design work varies depending on assignments and may include the design drafting of wastewater facilities and pipelines. The different types of facilities include, but are not limited to, wastewater treatment plants, pumping plants, interceptors, wet weather facilities, reservoirs, rate control stations, sanitary sewer pipelines, storm drains, and related facilities. All assignments are characterized by the performance of detailing and planning work within the various engineering disciplines and estimating quantities of work and costs. Technical assignments are conducted in the field and in the office and are performed within EBMUD standards and pre-determined limits. Duties include field investigations and frequent contact within and outside of EBMUD. Engineering Designers are distinguished from engineer positions in EBMUD's Junior/Assistant/Associate Engineer series where incumbents are responsible for performing professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and operation of a large municipal water supply and wastewater treatment utility, recycled water system, and hydroelectric generation system, and which requires an engineering degree for Junior/Assistant Engineer positions and a CA professional engineering license at the Associate Engineer level. Typical responsibilities include: &bull; Using CADD/BIM systems (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, MicroStation, etc.) to draft/design new wastewater facilities or rehabilitation of existing facilities for various engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural) under the guidance of engineers. &bull; Field Investigation and documentation of existing and newly constructed wastewater assets. &bull; Understanding of surveying principles and ability to analyze survey data, site drawings, topographic maps, improvement plans, utility drawings, as-built drawings, and system maps. &bull; Preparing civil plans and profiles for interceptors, storm drain, sanitary sewer, access roads, embankments, and other pipelines and facilities. &bull; Calculating cut and fill quantities for earthworks and performing hydraulic calculations for gravity drainage and pressured piping systems. &bull; Creating facility models and drawings using EBMUD standards, specifications, standard drawing practices, and District-approved CADD/BIM systems. &bull; Providing necessary drafting support for engineering design and construction which includes preparation of base drawings, floor plans, sections and details, diagrams, schedules, etc. &bull; Managing drafting project responsibilities of construction documents throughout the design process by coordinating and reviewing drawings for completeness and accuracy. &bull; Investigating and documenting field conditions for proper design background by using simple surveying equipment. &bull; Coordinating and reviewing consultant project design drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper EBMUD standards are followed. &bull; Managing and recording as-built drawing data from contractors, construction managers, and inspectors to ensure EBMUD possesses the most accurate and up-to-date records of drawings and models for constructed facilities. &bull; Providing migrating data support between various CADD/BIM platforms and analysis tools. &bull; Evaluating, implementing, and supporting new Building Information Modeling (BIM), and related software and technologies. The most competitive candidates will have design drafting experience in producing engineering drawings of various disciplines using CADD/BIM software; experience in performing complex drafting/modeling and making accurate field observations; ability to create digital terrain models; and experience generating site sections and profiles using CADD/BIM design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or other CADD/BIM related software; experience in surveying. Experience with design software packages such as Revit and Civil 3D are highly desirable, as is the ability to generate and complete design sketches and notations into readable, clear, and well-organized drawings, plans and details using CADD/BIM design tools. The Position East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD's) Wastewater Process Engineering and Asset Management group is currently seeking an Associate Civil Engineer who is motivated, energetic, innovative, a team player, a strong project manager, with excellent writing and verbal skills, who enjoys working closely with Operations, Maintenance and other staff in developing creative solutions for maximizing the cost-effective utilization of equipment at EBMUD Wastewater facilities. In this role, the successful candidate will manage a variety of asset management initiatives, such as conducting reliability centered maintenance evaluations of wastewater treatment processes, developing and implementing a robust condition assessment and performance monitoring program for wastewater assets, and facilitating enhancements to the computerized maintenance management system. The most competitive candidates will possess significant knowledge of wastewater systems, including wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities; wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance; asset management and maintenance engineering, data analysis and programming; project management principles and practices; and computerized maintenance management systems. Experience will include success in facilitating diverse groups in analyzing system performance and developing alternative approaches to system operation and maintenance to optimize performance; implementing reliability centered maintenance approaches to system analyses; and administering computerized maintenance management systems.
