Job Title: Production Planner
Job Description
The Production Planner builds and maintains production schedules for complex aerospace programs, working cross-functionally to ensure material availability and on-time delivery. This role monitors capacity and performance metrics, drives process and workflow improvements, and helps optimize planning and inventory efficiency. As a newly created position, it offers strong ownership and the opportunity to establish structure and support high-mix, low-volume manufacturing execution.
Responsibilities
• Develop, coordinate, and optimize production plans that align with Customer requirements, material availability, and delivery schedules
• Use MRP/ERP systems efficiently to manage workflows and inventory planning
• Adjust schedules based on demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and changing priorities
• Collaborate with procurement and supply chain to ensure timely material availability
• Analyze internal capacity and identify bottlenecks; implement proactive solutions
• Monitor inventory across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; minimize excess while maintaining production continuity
• Coordinate closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure end-to-end process alignment
• Flag and escalate engineering issues that may impact manufacturing deadlines
• Lead and participate in schedule reviews; communicate updates and priorities clearly
• Monitor production progress; identify deviations and take corrective action to mitigate delays
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce lead times and increase efficiency
• Maintain accurate master data, including lead times and inventory thresholds
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks with critical thinking and flexibility
• Conduct root cause analysis on material and scheduling issues, and recommend preventive measures
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and effective verbal/written communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and preferably MS Project (training available if needed)
• Understand manufacturing processes; composite manufacturing experience is a plus
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years in production/operations planning or program coordination
- Aerospace/Defense experience working with technical products
- High mix, low-volume manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of capacity planning, manufacturing operations, and production control
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with complex, multi-level BOMs
- Proactive problem solver who anticipates constraints and drives solutions
- U.S Citizen

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Clemente, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.00 - $44.00/hr.
