Buyer (Contract) – Supply Chain
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our dynamic supply chain team. In this role, you will play a critical part in keeping materials flowing by executing and expediting purchase orders, managing supplier communication, and maintaining accurate data in our ERP system. Your work will directly impact production continuity, backlog reduction, and cost control in a fast-paced environment.
This is an onsite, six-month contract role with the potential to convert to a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, release, and confirm purchase orders accurately and on time
- Drive resolution of past-due and unconfirmed purchase order lines
- Communicate proactively with suppliers to confirm delivery dates and resolve issues
- Expedite orders to support production needs and minimize supply risk
- Maintain accurate, real-time purchasing data within the ERP system (IFS)
- Partner with internal teams to improve visibility, reduce backlog, and lower expedite costs
- Support supplier onboarding, setup, and compliance documentation as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role
- Hands-on experience creating, managing, and maintaining purchase orders in an ERP system
- Proven ability to manage past-due and unconfirmed orders and drive corrective actions
- Experience expediting orders and coordinating supplier delivery commitments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across suppliers and internal teams
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced procurement environment with shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in life sciences, medical devices, medical instruments, defense/DOD, or electronics industries
- Experience with IFS ERP preferred (other ERP systems acceptable)
- Exposure to KPI recovery efforts or supply chain performance improvement initiatives
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills in a reactive supply chain setting
Work Environment
You will join a mid-sized supply chain team consisting of approximately 4 Buyers, 3 Senior Buyers, and additional planners cross-trained in buying functions. The team is currently operating in a resource-constrained environment and is seeking someone flexible, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities with minimal oversight.
This role is onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at our 4S Ranch / Rancho Bernardo location. You’ll work in a collaborative environment supporting meaningful work that directly impacts production schedules and customer delivery.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
