Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing facility equipment, building systems, and grounds. This includes basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance work. The role also supports preventive maintenance programs, vendor coordination, facility projects, and day-to-day service requests across multiple buildings.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on building systems, equipment, and furniture.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance issues.
- Complete light carpentry, painting, cleaning, and minor construction projects.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance needs.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and equipment upkeep.
- Order and organize maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment.
- Coordinate and escort vendors on-site as needed.
- Install ergonomic equipment and office fixtures.
- Maintain maintenance records and update work orders through the CMMS system.
- Provide project updates and communicate with internal teams.
- Support facility moves, modifications, and layout changes.
- Manage recycling and waste disposal according to company procedures.
- Travel between company buildings to complete maintenance tasks.
- Participate in an after-hours security/facilities call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ months of facilities maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot building systems and equipment.
- Comfortable using computers and maintenance management software (CMMS).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
