Job Title: Lead Sheet Metal Mechanic / Foreman
Job Description
This role leads a sheet metal crew on commercial construction projects, focusing on the installation, fabrication, and retrofit of HVAC duct systems and related components. You will oversee field operations, ensure high-quality workmanship, interpret blueprints, and coordinate with customers and project stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient installations on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a sheet metal crew of at least 10 people on commercial construction sites.
- Install, hang, and align stainless steel and galvanized ductwork according to project specifications and codes.
- Fabricate duct sections and fittings as needed to support project requirements.
- Install VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes and related HVAC components.
- Perform retrofit work, including modifications to existing duct systems and AC installations.
- Support AC installs, including associated piping and controls work.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications, and complete field layouts when required.
- Coordinate daily tasks and manpower to meet project schedules and productivity goals.
- Communicate effectively with crew members to provide direction, resolve issues, and maintain a safe and organized job site.
- Interact professionally with customers and general contractors to address questions, provide updates, and support project needs.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, including consistent use of required PPE.
- Participate in required on-site orientations and adhere to site-specific rules and procedures.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role on a new construction hospital project, working Monday through Friday on 8-hour shifts, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Saturday work expected for the next 6–8 weeks. The job takes place on an active construction site with coordination alongside a general contractor and other trades. You must wear PPE at all times and follow all site safety rules. New hires complete an on-site orientation before starting work. The environment involves typical commercial construction conditions, including working around heavy equipment, elevated noise levels, and varying weather conditions when moving between indoor and outdoor areas.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Cocoa Beach, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
