Job Description
The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler develops and executes planned work and design change packages that support day-to-day maintenance activities and refueling outages in a nuclear facility. In this career-level role, you work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and external vendors to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized work execution in a highly regulated environment. You conduct field walkdowns, define work packages, and build critical-path schedules to maximize equipment availability and effective use of manpower while independently managing complex planning and scheduling tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of planned work and design change packages that support maintenance and modification activities.
- Conduct field walkdowns to identify and analyze corrective, preventative, and surveillance maintenance and modification needs.
- Define procedures, drawings, equipment, and material requirements needed to build complete and accurate planned work packages.
- Act as a liaison between Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and external vendors to coordinate scheduled activities and resolve conflicts.
- Develop work standards and instructions that support consistent and safe execution of maintenance work packages.
- Prepare, publish, and monitor daily work schedules for routine maintenance and refueling or maintenance outages.
- Develop and maintain computerized critical-path schedules for maintenance and outage activities using Primavera P6 or similar tools.
- Analyze daily schedules to optimize equipment availability and manpower utilization, and recommend schedule modifications as needed.
- Monitor work progress against the plan, document schedule issues, and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Perform schedule performance tracking, statistical reporting, and trend analysis to support continuous improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis for schedule conflicts and performance issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and technical direction to junior planners, contractors, or non-exempt personnel as assigned, fostering consistent planning and scheduling practices.
- 6–10 years of technical experience in Engineering, Maintenance, or Operations, preferably in a nuclear facility.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead maintenance scheduling and trend analysis efforts.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 or similar project scheduling tools.
- Working knowledge of work management processes in an industrial or power generation environment.
- Strong skills using Microsoft Office and online scheduling applications.
- Experience with construction management, site development, and utility construction scheduling.
- Background in project scheduling, project management, and project coordination in energy, power, or nuclear power settings.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related physical science preferred.
- Prior relevant military experience may be considered in lieu of civilian experience.
- Completion of a Maintenance Trade apprenticeship program preferred.
- Experience supporting refueling outages in a nuclear or power generation environment.
- Experience with Primavera and other scheduling or project management tools.
- Exposure to construction and utility construction environments, including nuclear power projects.
This role is based on site at a nuclear facility in a safety-focused, highly regulated environment. You work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and external vendors to support critical infrastructure and power generation. The position relies heavily on computerized scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, work management systems, Microsoft Office, and online scheduling applications. Work is performed in and around industrial plant areas where adherence to established procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements is essential. The environment emphasizes collaboration, structured planning, and continuous coordination to support routine maintenance and refueling outages.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
