Job Description
This 2nd shift picker and packer position supports all stages of the pick, pack, and ship process in a clean, temperature-controlled distribution environment. You will rotate between picking and packing tasks throughout your shift, using scanners and following detailed instructions to ensure accurate and efficient order fulfillment. The schedule for this role is 2nd shift, from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in the pick, pack, and ship process with a flexible attitude and willingness to rotate between tasks throughout the shift.
- Work in the picking area using a cart with multiple scan codes to locate and pick parts from racks according to scanned instructions.
- Scan the appropriate code on the cart, identify the correct parts on the racks, place them on the cart, and continue scanning until the cart is fully completed.
- Move completed carts to the designated next area for further processing and promptly receive and begin work on the next available cart.
- Perform packing duties at a stationary workstation, receiving orders that are brought to you for processing.
- Scan the order sheet to generate packing slips and verify that the correct products and additional items (such as batteries, candy, or stickers) match the packing slip requirements.
- Carefully pack products, packing slips, and any additional pieces into boxes according to order specifications.
- Place packed boxes on the conveyor system for automatic sealing, labeling, and routing to the correct shipping area.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when reading small print on labels, packing slips, and instructions.
- Communicate clearly in conversational English to understand instructions, collaborate with team members, and support safe operations.
- Follow all workplace safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards while working on your feet for the duration of the shift.
- Contribute positively to a team-oriented environment by demonstrating a willingness to learn and assist where needed.
- Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift on a regular basis.
- Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English.
- Ability to read small print on labels, packing slips, and order documentation.
- Flexible attitude and willingness to rotate between picking and packing duties.
- Willingness to learn new tasks and follow detailed instructions.
- Team-oriented mentality and ability to work collaboratively in a warehouse environment.
- Previous experience using RF scanners or similar handheld scanning devices.
- At least 6 months of pick and pack or order picking experience in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Experience with pallet jacks for moving materials within a warehouse environment.
- Background in warehouse packing, packaging, labeling, shipping, or general labor roles.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean, temperature-controlled facility designed for comfort and efficiency. Work is primarily performed while standing for the duration of the shift, with frequent movement during picking tasks and more stationary work during packing. Products handled are very small and light, with typical lifting requirements up to a maximum of approximately 5 pounds in most cases. You will work with carts, racks, RF scanners, packing stations, and conveyor systems that automatically seal and label boxes. The environment emphasizes organization, safety, and cleanliness, with a focus on maintaining a professional warehouse setting throughout the 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM 2nd shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.40 - $19.40/hr.
