Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join our heavy civil construction team, specializing in roadway, utility, and site work for public projects. The Pipe Layer will be responsible for installing storm, sanitary, and water utility piping in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements. This role supports infrastructure construction such as highways, municipal roadways, drainage systems, and public utilities.
Responsibilities
- Pipe the underground storm drain, sanitary sewer, water main, and other utility piping.
- Set line and grade for pipe using lasers, levels, or string lines.
- Prepare and grade trenches, including bedding and backfill materials.
- Assist in trench box/shoring installation and removal.
- Align and join pipe sections using proper materials such as gaskets, cement, and couplings.
- Inspect pipe for proper slope, alignment, and joint integrity.
- Work closely with equipment operators, laborers, foremen, and supervisors.
- Follow all job site safety regulations, including OSHA and project-specific requirements.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and trench details.
- Perform work in compliance with municipal, state, and federal standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area.
- 3+ years of pipe laying experience in heavy civil, roadway, or site work preferred.
- Experience on public infrastructure projects (DOT, municipal, state, or federal) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with utility installation methods for large-diameter pipe.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and grade stakes.
- Knowledge of trench safety, shoring systems, and excavation practices.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Industrial construction experience.
- Pipe fitting and pipe laying expertise.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Experience with heavy equipment and excavation.
- Civil construction knowledge.

Work Environment
Work takes place at outdoor construction sites, including roadways and heavy equipment zones. Expect exposure to dust, noise, weather extremes, and heavy machinery.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Weymouth, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
