Remote Structural Designer
About the Opportunity
Join a highly respected engineering firm with over a century of excellence (est. 1905) that is experiencing significant growth due to major new nuclear and power generation projects. This is a newly created role, not a backfill, offering strong long-term career growth and the chance to work on large-scale, impactful infrastructure projects across the U.S. and Canada.
What You’ll Do
As a Structural Designer, you will play a key role in the design and analysis of complex industrial and power generation structures. Your work will directly support critical energy infrastructure projects, including nuclear and conventional power plants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design heavy foundations and structural steel systems for power plant facilities
- Develop structural solutions for pipe racks, tank foundations, and small structures
- Perform structural calculations, analysis, and design studies
- Support nuclear, fossil fuel, and conventional energy projects
- Conduct dynamic analysis and deep foundation design using tools like STAAD Pro
- Review and interpret codes, specifications, and construction documents
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Contribute to projects involving emissions control systems and ductwork design
What You Bring
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in structural/civil design and drafting
- Experience in power generation, utilities, or heavy industrial projects
- Experience with nuclear, fossil fuel, or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and calculations
- Proficiency in tools such as:
- STAAD Pro
- ANSYS / Mathcad (or similar)
- Ability to develop engineering reports, studies, and design drawings
Preferred:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (Structural focus)
- Experience with seismic analysis for nuclear facilities
- Familiarity with AutoCAD / Autodesk Advance Steel

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
