Job Description
This role is responsible for developing and advancing mechanical models from engineering design through coordination and fabrication-level detail. The Mechanical VDC Production Specialist bridges engineering intent and field execution by producing constructible models that incorporate sequencing and installation requirements. The position supports project teams by translating design information into coordinated, fabrication-ready models that prefabrication and field teams can use directly for installation, rather than solely for design coordination. This is a remote position with strong opportunities for growth within a smaller, agile organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and advance mechanical Revit MEP models from engineering drawings, markups, and specifications.
- Progress mechanical models to LOD 350–400, ensuring sufficient detail for fabrication and installation.
- Incorporate constructability considerations, including routing, hanger placement, and coordination details, into all models.
- Embed sequencing and installation logic into models to support efficient field execution and prefabrication workflows.
- Translate engineering design intent into coordinated, fabrication-ready models aligned with project scope, schedule, and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure models meet coordination requirements and can be used directly by prefabrication and field installation teams.
- Apply Mechanical VDC and BIM best practices to maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all project models.
- Proficiency in Revit, with specific experience developing Revit MEP models.
- Hands-on Mechanical VDC and BIM experience, including model creation and coordination.
- Ability to progress mechanical models to LOD 350–400 with detailed routing and hanger placement.
- Strong understanding of constructability, sequencing, and installation requirements for mechanical systems.
- Capability to translate engineering drawings, markups, and specifications into accurate, coordinated models.
- Experience working in Mechanical VDC and BIM environments that support prefabrication and field installation.
- Familiarity with using models as a primary tool for field coordination and construction planning.
- Interest in growing with a smaller company and contributing to the development of VDC/BIM processes and standards.
This is a fully remote position, allowing you to perform all work from a remote location. You will work primarily with Revit MEP and Mechanical VDC/BIM tools to develop detailed, constructible models. The environment emphasizes collaboration with project teams through digital coordination, with a focus on delivering models that support prefabrication and field installation. The organization offers the opportunity to grow within a smaller, dynamic company that values innovation and continuous improvement in virtual design and construction.
