Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a 30-ton Taylor Big Red forklift to transport pipes and materials in outdoor environments. You will safely move suspended loads using chains, adhering to proper rigging techniques and safety protocols. The role requires reading and interpreting work orders to accurately locate and move shipments. Routine inspections and basic maintenance on the forklift are essential to ensure safe operation. You will operate the forklift both in outdoor warehouse settings and open-air environments, maintaining awareness of your surroundings to ensure the safety of other employees. Additionally, you will assist with general labor tasks, including cleaning and organizing the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Operate a 30-ton Taylor Big Red forklift to transport pipes and materials.
- Safely move suspended loads using chains and follow proper rigging techniques.
- Read and interpret work orders to accurately locate and move shipments.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on the forklift.
- Operate the forklift in outdoor environments and maintain safety around other employees.
- Assist with general labor tasks such as cleaning and organizing the warehouse.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating heavy equipment and forklifts.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Mobility to enter and exit the forklift frequently.
- Experience in construction.
- Experience in the cement industry or with pipes.
- Flexibility with long hours and overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with handling suspended loads using chains.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques.
- Experience with forklift maintenance.

Work Environment
The work environment involves operating in an outdoor, non-climate-controlled warehouse. It is a loud and dirty setting, with the need to work 10+ hours of overtime weekly. Occasional mandatory Saturday shifts may occur with three days' notice.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Summerville, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
