Substation Electrician

What You'll Do
Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high- and medium-voltage substation equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Install conduit, cable, wiring, and associated electrical components according to code and project specifications.
- Assist with commissioning, startup, and maintenance activities on electrical systems up to 35kV.
Troubleshooting & Testing
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems, transformers, relays, motors, controls, generators, and related equipment.
- Perform electrical testing using multimeters, meggers, meters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Complete point-to-point checks, installation verification, and functional testing.
- Read and interpret schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Safety & Operations
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), grounding, switching, and PPE requirements.
- Support scheduled outages, emergency response efforts, and service restoration activities.
- Maintain accurate records of testing, maintenance activities, and completed work.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced field environment.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
3+ years of experience as a licensed electrician
Experience working with medium- or high-voltage electrical systems
Ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment and control systems
Experience reading electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams
Proficiency using electrical testing equipment and hand tools
Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb, work at heights, and perform physically demanding work
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance Technology
- Previous substation or industrial electrical experience
- Experience with relay systems, generators, or commissioning work
- Military electrical experience
- Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $55.00/hr.
